People say Bali is *the* tourist destination of Indonesia. I disagree. Borobudur and Prambanan are.
The world is strewn with beaches all vying for the nod to be the best strip of sand in the world. So as far as I'm concerned, beaches are a dime a dozen (but none quite in the league of Boracay, I have to say!).
But how many places in the world can boast of Borubudur's and Prambanan's history? - Just a few. Or their place in archaeology as proof that Indonesia is a melting pot? Consider these sites, deep in the heart of the Kraton of Yogjakarta - ancient Buddhist and Hindu places of worship and meditation.
(Pause and ponder)
With this trip to Borubudur and Prambanan, I've ticked off one place in my list of must-sees. Now I just have to go to Ankor Wat, the Pyramids, the portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico and the Mayan relics in South America. :)
